One of the social highlights of the year was the 2019 Christmas meal and Awards Presentation.  This year, the meal was held at the French-themed gastro-pub The Waggoners at Digswell hill, Welwyn Garden City. The meal was well attended by members and families.

We had an area of the Waggoners to ourselves on a couple of tables and the service was very prompt and the food tasty. Wine, beer and soft drinks for those "designated drivers" flowed freely and it was a good chance for everyone particularly family members to catch up.

Following the Starters, Mains and Desserts, we kicked back for the presentations for 2019. Simon as Chairman gave a summary of the 2019 highlight events, for diving and social activities, too numerous to mention here but detailed elsewhere on the website. Then followed presentations for The Club Member of the Year, Diver of the Year and a popular return this year of the " Wooden Spoon" awards for notable misdemeanors.

Club Member of the Year for assistance every week at the pool, photographing club events for the club website and always being there to help out, for example relocation of the "Tardis" container was a very popular Stewart Warren.

Diver of the Year presented by Mark as Diving Officer was awarded for progress in training and general enthusiasm for diving and a pleasure for Instructors to teach was jointly awarded to Paul Barker and Joshua Headon.

Wooden Spoon awards were given to Richard Dew for (ahem!) navigation skills, Peter Lemon for (ahem again!) pre-dive checks and Simon himself for forgetting to charge his camera and missing that vital photographic opportunity on the club trip to Cyprus.

A good time was had by all, here's looking forward to a safe and active 2020!
